Founding Fathers

A friendship that began it all

In a world where the sustainable transition is becoming ever so important, it was noted that the University of Miami lacked an educational organization to educate students about sustainable investments. The solution was a student lead impact investment club known as Century Fund. It began in August of 2021 when Jordan Sotomayor came to the university in search of a team to create a long lasting, impactful club to help guide the world toward a sustainable future. Within the first couple of weeks of the fall 2021 semester, two other young colleagues, Benjamin Alves and Daniel Farber, met and befriended Jordan. They all shared the same ambition of establishing a sustainable investment club on campus to educate students about the future of investing.

It wasn’t until the spring 22 semester that Century Fund was truly born. The first meetings were held in the university’s architecture school courtyard where discussions of different industries, current news, and sustainable trends were brought to light. These conversations between the ambitious original members are what fueled Century Fund. By the end of the semester, Century Fund became an officially recognized organization of the University of Miami ready to establish its presence as an investment fund.
